Not sure about in-state, but out-of-state students probably need a minimum of a B+ and a 1200 SAT (disregarding the writing section). I had a 94 average (A/A-) in high school and a 1290 on the SAT and had no trouble getting in.

I was pretty involved in my extra-curricular activities in high school, and had a decent G.P.A. along with it. However, with a 49% acceptance rate and declining, that may not be enough to get in anymore. Over 21,000 students applied last year alone, and roughly 3,500 get accepted to Storrs each year. Don't be discouraged by this, though. If you are confident in the effort and work you put in during your high school career, you should be just fine.

I had really good grades, SAT scores. I was involved in a lot of sports and some after school activities. You don't have to have an extraordinary resume but it is getting more and more competitive to get in. Try to project your uniqueness into your application.

I did early action and got in. I went through the branch campus so it was easier to get into the engineering program. I was also top 10% of my class, 1300 on the SATs, GPA of 3.914.

There is no engineering program on the branch campuses anymore. My advice is to cross your t's, dot your i's, and put on a good presentation for admissions and they'll let you in. There are plenty of dumb people on campus so, in my opinion, it's not that hard to get in.
